Possible Dismissal Modification

We are contemplating a small alteration to our pick up at the end of the day. One suggestion we are considering is to reverse the doors for dismissal so that pick up would take place at the first door, then you would walk through the room, exit out the second door and finish at the coat hooks. This would eliminate trying to balance papers, coats, hats, boots etc. while picking up your child during the winter season. Please provide any feedback you might have in regard to this change or any other recommendations you might consider for dismissal. We will give written notification if and when we make the change. Thank you for your patience.

Red Week

We worked with lots of red this week, painting with red on the easel, sponge painting two red apples (one will be hanging on display in the church lobby and the other will be our first page of our color book), coloring with red crayons and best of all making Bob the Tomato. Bob is a character from a delightful assortment of children’s videos called VeggieTales  that teach God’s truths. Check it out on You  Tube,  Silly Songs with Larry. We  played pin the nose on Bob which isn’t as easy as it seems since we were blindfolded. Bob looked pretty silly with noses all over his face! We met our Red Crazy Color Creature and sang a song about him: “Red, Red, bumped his head, crazy color creature.” We even pretended to be apple trees holding two red apples high in our branches. We sang to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, “Way up high in the apple tree, two red apples smiled down at me. I shook that tree as hard as I could. Down fell the apples. Hmm, were they good!”

At Bible Story we learned that God made all the animals for us to enjoy. We met the puppet, Milo the Monkey, and found out he got his name, Milo, from his mom and dad but God gave Adam the job of calling him monkey and naming all the other animals. God looked at the animals that He created and said, “This is good!”

Thanks to all who are helping with cutting out crafts. During the first eight weeks of school we have a lot of cutting but it will taper off after our color unit is over.

Next week is Yellow Week!

First Full Day of School
September 20, 2009, '8:57 pm'

Our first day of school went exceedingly well. The children acclimated quickly to our classroom environment and the few fears I saw were bravely worked through and soon we were all enjoying the day.

They took home a special card reminding them that , “Jesus knows our names and He loves us too. You might have heard another name mentioned: Aiken Drum. He was a pretty silly guy who lives in the moon, has hair made of spaghetti, eyes made of meatballs, Swiss cheese nose, pizza mouth, and ears made of corn on the cob. Maybe they can sing the song for you.

We met our classroom friend, Daisy Duck, who taught us our school rules:  We use 1) Walking Feet, 2) Inside Voices, 3) Loving Hands, and 4) We are Good Helpers. Later in the day Daisy became lost so we decided to travel the building searching for her, calling out to anyone we saw, “Have you seen Daisy Duck?” One little girl even said she she saw duck foot prints on the carpet. So, in the midst of our hunt we got acquainted with much of the building and met most of the church staff who were helpful in our quest. Hopefully, all the new faces and places won’t be so intimidating. We ended up spotting her in Celebration (gym) and we gave her a big hug and told her never to run away by herself again.

This coming week begins Red Week. Can’t wait to see some red shirts and other red items you can think of to wear.

Beginnings

I love beginnings! A new year, fresh, new faces, high expectations, lots of curiosity and excitement with a little apprehension all mixed in together.  What a great prelude to what I believe will be a successful year filled with making friends, learning new things, growing in confidence and just plain fun! In the past few days I’ve met many wonderful new families and rekindled relationships with old friends who have walked this path before with older siblings.

Welcome to the beginning of another year at First Trinity Preschool! It’s exciting to be a part of a school that is dedicated to the lives of our children but we also have the added benefit of so many who have gone before us in our more than 45 years of excellence as a preschool.

I look forward to getting to know you all better and working with your children. Thank you for entrusting them to us.

Mrs. Ferrante :-)
