Sorry I took such a long hiatus from blogging. So much has happened since my last post.
- We released the butterflies into the play yard! The excitement and thrill in the children’s faces were captured on camera by Paul Gerlach. Thank you Paul! As soon as I receive the pictures I will post them.
- Some of our art work these last two weeks: personalized NY license plates reminding us that Jesus knows our name, picture of 1st Trinity Preschool reminding us that Jesus was with us at school but is also with us everywhere we go, our self portraits, and an artistic synopsis of some of the things we know now: our colors, shapes, numbers and best of all, “Jesus loves us!”
- I hope you enjoyed your child’s number book and self-portrait booklet.
- We had a wonderful time this year. Thank you so much for allowing us the privilege of caring for your children. I am surprised how quickly our year sped by and I will miss all of you. Please stop by some time and visit when you get a chance. I would love to see you all again. I’m reminded of a poem I learned many years ago that I think speaks for all our children: “It’s been nine months since our first day and we all think we’ve come a long way. We’ve made new friends and lost old fears. Thanks Mom and Day for sending us here.”
- We’ll see you at the farm tomorrow. Don’t forget to wear your farm tee shirt. We go rain or shine so bring your umbrella.
I love May! Spring is my favorite time of the year! Who can appreciate the warm weather and sunshine more than people who have been through a long, cold winter? It brightens my spirits and reminds me how awesome God is and wonderful His creation.
We have been busy all week making Mother’s Day surprises, watching our butterflies, going to chapel with Pastor, learning our numbers and our Bible story about Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:5 & 3:14-15:
I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also…But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
What a great influence mothers (and fathers too) have on their children. Sometimes it is overwhelming to think that everything we say and do can have a profound, life long or even eternal affect on them. How fortunate, we, who know Christ can rest in the assurance that Jesus loves our little ones even more than we ever could. We won’t always know the answers to all the crisis that will come up in our children’s lives but we know the One who does. My prayer for you is that you will always go to the One who created your child for the answers in caring for them. May you, just as Eunice and Lois, teach your children the truth of God as he shares Himself to us in the Bible.
This Mother’s Day I would like to share with you books that have taught, convicted and changed me to be a better mom.

What fun we had at the library! We danced and sang lots of songs with Miss Lucy and her guitar and read lots of books. We then got to search the library shelves for books. The paper bag duck puppets that she gave us are in your mailbox. You can make them with your family.
In our Bible story this week we learned that we can tell others what Jesus has done for us just like Philip told the Ethiopian all about Jesus. We can tell the wonderful Easter story to our family, friends and others. When they hear the message they might respond just like the Ethiopian, who believed and was baptized. God tells us to tell others the truth so that they too can have eternal life with Him.
We studied the number two this week by making two fingerprint frogs for our number book. Our names were written on number two attendance cards and our “admittance fee” was two plastic bears in our number two jar. We sang to the tune of “Do You Know the Muffin Man”:
T -W – O that spells two. T – W – O spells number two. Twins and pairs and doubles too. Lots of things have two. T – W – O that spells two. T – W – O spells number two. Two ears, two hands, two legs, two feet. Could this special one be you?
Once we learned the words we had fun singing it real fast with the cd and book.
We painted and colored and glued a paper plate to make a very silly frog. A red party blower was pushed through a hole in the middle of the folded plate. Now, whenever the frog gets hungry the children just blow it and out comes the frogs tongue to catch a bug. We didn’t want the frog to go home hungry so we put a bug sticker right at the end of his tongue.
The children have been busy working on their very special Mother’s Day gift. We will finish and give them to our wonderful moms next week.
We are patiently waiting for our butterflies to come out of their chrysalises. Yes, all the caterpillars are now sleeping while God is working something miraculous inside their home! You’re welcome to come inside the classroom to visit our butterfly home.
