What a joy it was for me to worship with so many of my preschool families on Sunday. The children did a wonderful job singing “Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam” and “Good Morning, Lord.” I was extremely proud of them.
The soloist stopped by my room on Monday and said he is okay. He thinks he was effected by the heat with so many people in the room.
A friend took some nice pictures for us and I wanted to post them. Thank you Paul.

Easter is my favorite Bible truth to share with the class. They listen in awe as I tell them about the extreme way God showed His love for us. We looked at three cardboard crosses hanging on the wall, and I explained how Jesus suffered and died on a cross for all the naughty things we have done. After we shared some of the things that we have done (not sharing our toys, disobeying our parents, saying mean things, not helping others) each of us took a sad face sticker, representing those naughty things and stuck it to the cross. As sad as Jesus death was we are so happy that Jesus didn’t stay dead, but through the power that God has, He raised Him from the dead. In doing that He took all those naughty things we do and He “threw them right into the ocean!” Because of what Jesus did on the cross we are forgiven and can live with Him forever. We got to finish the story by placing a happy face sticker right on top of that sad face. Jesus took all the punishment for what we have done. We are so grateful to Him for giving us new life. Because of what He has done we now want to obey Him to show Him our love and appreciation.
The “New Life” chicks we made will be hanging on our classroom windows to remind us that God has given us new life in Jesus.
Ella R’s mom, a dental hygienist, came in Wednesday and shared with us how to take good care of our teeth. We learned the importance of brushing twice a day, having an adult help us brush, flossing, and eating good foods. Thank you Mrs. R!! You did a great job! This Tuesday another hygienist will come in to talk to our Tuesday/Thursday class.
As the weather gets nicer we will be going outside more. Please send your children in outdoor play clothes. We are loving the fresh air and sunshine.
Looking forward to seeing a lot of you this Sunday. Our church lobby has been transformed into a beautiful spring scene with all our children’s art work. See if you can find your child’s butterfly, caterpillar and kite.
This week God blessed us with some beautiful weather so Monday and Tuesday we were able to take a walk outside and enjoy the signs of spring. We saw birds, sunshine, flower stems peaking up through the ground and best of all we felt warm air, the perfect remedy for cabin fever. Thursday even gave us the opportunity to play out in the playground. We found a couple of mourning doves who mistakenly thought they had found a quiet place to raise their babies and were taken by surprise with the laughter and movement of all the children. The mama bird never left her nest of eggs and the daddy bird was perched just above keeping careful watch. We’ll keep you informed of their progress.

The children did a great job gluing on all the shapes to make their All Shapes Train. We said good bye to all our shape characters; Samuel Square, Cynthia Circle, Tilly Triangle, Ricky Rectangle, Olivia Oval, Dilly Diamond and Hilda Heart.
We finished our decorations for Sunbeam Sunday. We will soon see a beautiful spring scene blossom in our church lobby along with some of our paintings. We’ve been practicing our songs for Sunday too. The program flier will be decorated with a sun that has been signed by all the children. Please let us know if you can make it by checking off yes or no on the sheet hanging outside the classroom door.
In Bible we shared stories of parades we have been to and we learned that people have parades because they are happy about something. We learned about the first Palm Sunday when the people had a parade for Jesus. We decided to have our own praise parade because we are happy that Jesus is our friend and He loves us. We played our musical instruments, singing Hosannah, (Ho, ho, ho, hosannah, ha, ha, haleluiah, he, he, he saved me. I’ve got the joy of Lord.) and marched around the church. As we walked by Pastor and Sue Steege’s office they joined us with their instruments and singing.
The field trip to the Audubon Library mentioned on the March calendar has been postponed until Monday April 27 and Thursday, April 30. A dental hygienist will visit our classroom on Wednesday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 31

We met Olivia Oval who is “also round, no corners on her are ever found. But she’s not a circle because she’s been squeezed. She’s an oval if you please.” We made Mr. Potato Head in art. They turned out so cute we decided to hang them up on the hall wall. Can you find all the ovals that he is made of? I counted 13! We also had a lot of fun playing with a whole bin of real Mr. Potato Heads. I know I am dating myself when I ask, Does anybody remember playing Mr. Potato Head with real potatoes? The toy only came with the body parts and it was our job to pierce them into a raw potato. A safety hazard by today’s standards for sure but I spent hours playing with it as a young child with no injury. We finished the day with the story of Humpty Dumpty. The class was a little surprised when I brought out a raw egg, drew a face on it and watched it fall down and “crack”. We talked about the three parts of an egg; the shell, yolk and whites. Next week we will finish our shapes unit with “All Shapes Week”.
In Bible we learned about a man named, Zacchaeus, and how he was changed forever once he met Jesus. Because he was so short and couldn’t see above the crowds he climbed a tree to watch Jesus pass by. Jesus saw him and invited Himself to his house for lunch. The crowd grumbled because Zacchaeus was a naughty man who stole money from them. But Jesus said that He had come to save the lost. After Zacchaeus spent time with Jesus, he was a new man and he decided to give half his money to the poor and to repay all that he had stolen and more. Jesus can change our hearts too. The children helped me tell the story using the Zacchaeus clip and tree they made in art. Maybe they could tell you the story too.
In Celebration (gymnasium) we pretended to be trees with our feet firmly planted on the ground, our roots deep and our arms high in the air. Suddenly a wind picked up and we began to sway back and forth. Next we pretended to stand under a tree and came up with ideas that we could do with our tree. We sat in the shade away from the hot sun, climbed it, hung a rope swing and swung on it and picked apples and ate them. How else can we use trees?
We played London Bridges to the words of Jesus says you are my friend. They liked getting caught and swung back and forth.
- Cabin fever! I think that’s what we’ve all been experiencing this week in school. We’re hoping for some warm weather, sunshine and fresh air soon.
- We met Ricky Rectangle who sang to the tune of London Bridges: “Two sides long and two sides short, two sides long, two sides short. Two sides long and two sides short. I’m a rectangle.
- We learned how God did and still does work miracles in our lives. After a day of preaching, Jesus told his disciples to feed all the hungry people, 5000 in all! They found one boy who shared his lunch of just two fish and 5 loaves of bread. After Jesus blessed it there was more than enough for everyone! We got to share in his lunch too when Mrs. Ferrante passed out two fish (goldfish) and some freshly baked bread sticks. Yumm!
- In art we made the little boy’s lunch box which just happened to be shaped like a rectangle and filled it with two sponge painted fish and 5 loaves of glued on bread. Our stunning rectangle art work is on display in the hallway too.

- In chapel, Mrs. Rice taught us about sharing just like the little boy shared his lunch in our Bible story. She taught us a new song called, “Caring, Sharing.” Not only can we share our toys and things but we can also share Jesus with others.
