We met Dilly Diamond this week. How silly are all our Shape Creatures we have met so far. We made kites to decorate our calendars and we squished painted kites to decorate the church lobby for Sunbeam Sunday, March 29. We were “shape detectives” as we searched our shape book for a diamond. We found all the other shapes we’ve learned about so far too and thought of things in our world where we can see those shapes. We see circles on the wheels of a bike. We see squares in a quilt or box. We see a triangle in the musical instrument that is called a triangle. We see hearts in valentines.
In our Bible story we learned that just like Jesus had the power to give the blind man, Bartimaeus, sight He has the power to help us too. Jesus has the power to heal us when we are sick. Jesus has the power to make us happy when we’re sad. But best of all Jesus has the power to take away all the naughty things we do and make us His friend because He died on the cross for us. We thanked God for giving us eyes to see all the wonderful things around us and we sang, “Blue, blue sky, oh I can see the sky. God gave us eyes so I can see the sky.” We added new verses as the children came up with things they could see with their eyes.
Here are some of the everyday things we do at school:

It was great getting back into the classroom, rested and rejuvenated after having the week off. It reminds me of how important it is to take time off to rest, something I have a hard time doing on a regular basis. I was able to fly to my sister’s in Baltimore for a long weekend and enjoy a retreat at her church. I took advantage of Ding, which offers special airline prices from Southwest Airlines. It cost me just $99. round trip and because they offer less popular flights I usually get a whole row of seats to myself. My flight came in Monday morning at 8:10 and I was just able make it to school by 8:30 thanks to Kathy Gibson’s brother, Mark.
I hope you all had a chance to spend some time with your family during the week off from school. How fast they grow and change. How recent it seems when my own children were in their preschool years, now 16 and 18. What wonderful memories we made. I will always treasure them. Thankfully, even those difficult times that were there too, I can see God used to grow us and to help us rely on His power rather than our own. Parenting: what an awesome privilege and tremendous responsibility! Thank goodness we don’t have to do it alone as God desires to teach us, give us wisdom and be our ever present support. All we need to do is ask. I’ve learned what a better job God does in molding our children than we could ever do.
Thanks to all who helped with and brought in supplies for the Valentine’s Party. All the food was delicious and the children had a wonderful time. We enjoyed punch, crackers and strawberry creme cheese, strawberries and whip cream, popcorn, rice krispy treats, red jello jigglers and candy. During free play we got to snack on and then make a valentine conversation heart: the children water painted a white heart and to their surprise a secret message showed up! Each child was able to pass out their valentines by putting one in each of their classmates handmade valentine folder. They were getting excited as they saw their folders fill up with cards and candy.
After playing with the parachute in the gym we returned to the classroom and learned a new song: Skiddamarink. The words are: “Skidamarinka dinka dink, skidamarinka doo. I love you. Skidamarinka dinka dink skidamarinka doo. I love you. I love you in the morning and in the afternoon. I love you in the evening and underneath the moon. Oh, skidamarinka dinka dink, skidamarinka doo. I love you.” We finished our day by singing some valentine songs and then our goodbyes song.
I hope you are all having a relaxing week off from school. We will see you next week. Enjoy the photos:

- We made special valentine’s cards for our families and sewed together and decorated our valentine envelopes that we will fill with valentine cards at our party on Wed. and Thurs. of next week.

Take note:
- Mon/Wed class will have 12 children starting Monday as a new boy, Nehemiah, will be starting.
- Tues/Thurs class has 14 children
Bible Story
- Jesus Blesses the Children. We pretended we were a family going to see Jesus to be blessed by Him, but when we got there, Jesus’ friends said, “Stop! Jesus is too busy to see you!” We turned around sadly to go back home but then we heard Jesus say, “No, let the children come to me. I love them.” We happily returned and we gave each other big hugs, just like Jesus might have given us.
- We learned our Bible verse, Mark 10:14, through a song: “1 little, 2 little, 3 little, children, 4 little, 5 little, 6 little children. Let the children come to me. That’s what Jesus said.”
A special thank you to:
- Mrs. Sawyer, Gabbie’s mom, and Miss Sue, my sister, for subbing this week. They both did a great job helping us out and connecting with the children.
- all the parents who took time out of their busy schedules to meet with me. I enjoyed so much talking with all of you.
