We’ve been working on Christmas gifts for our parents all week. We are trying to keep it a surprise and hope no one has given it away. :-)

We continue to talk about the birth of Jesus. We even re-enacted the arrival of the wise men and shepherds. We walked around the circle until we arrived at the stable where Baby Jesus lay. There, we knelt down to worship Him and give him gifts.

We had a chance to get the riding toys out in the gym, but we also like to play basketball, duck, duck, goose, tag, hula hoops and just have fun. The children love to play in Celebration. We had a little extra time at the end of the day on Wednesday so we played in shaving creme. Just click on the photo to view the album :

We had a very busy week decorating our school for Christmas. If you haven’t seen our adornments I hope you will check them out. Our classroom bulletin board is full of little angels with our very own faces on them, we marble painted Christmas balls to hang on our hall tree and their beautiful Christmas wreaths made from their traced hands and fingerprint holly berries are hanging on the windows of the church lobby. We learned that God sent an angel to tell Mary the good news that God had chosen her to be the mother of Baby Jesus. At first Mary was afraid but the angel told her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will have a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.”  Click here if you would like to read the whole Christmas story told by Luke.

The Christmas account is my favorite Bible story to tell the kids. I don’t know why but there always seems to be a quiet reverence when I share it, maybe because they recognize it from hearing it before or maybe because it is such an awesome story how God left His thrown and came down as a little baby because of His love for us. Pretty cool stuff! Each week until Christmas I will share more of  the story using a Fisher Price Nativity Set.

In the midst of celebrating the birth of our Savior we are also rejoicing in the birth of Addison Naomi Christ, the daughter of Jamie and Jason Christ (Director of Student Ministries at 1st Trinity). Welcome to the world little Addie.

We are learning two new songs that we plan to sing at the December 21st Christmas Program. I hope you can come. Information was sent home this week.

You are welcome to help your child learn the songs at home:

Mary saw an angel. At first she was afraid. Then she listened carefully and this is what he said,

“You will have a baby. Jesus, God’s own Son. He will be the savior, sent from God above.

Mary, then was happy. Are you happy too? God you see sent Jesus, down to earth for YOU!

AND

In a little stable, far across the sea, was a little baby just like you and me.

How I love this Jesus, who was little then. And I know He loves me, little though I am.
